Infrakit’s real-time view saves costs and effort in infra projects

In the last benefits for owners blog we told you about overall quality improvement that Infrakit helps achieve.

With the platform construction’s overall quality is improved by real-time monitoring. Real-time view of the project enables you to fix errors and make quick changes, when necessary. This saves time and helps you stay within the schedule.

In this blog we’ll talk about how our single system architecture saves you both cost and effort while ensuring efficient asset maintenance and real-time data for everyday work from project leader to builder.

Efficient asset maintenance

On case E16 Eggemoen – Olum BIM coordinator Mohammed Ziani says they have four workspaces consisting of two main projects, a side road and an action road. He states that Infrakit has made the interaction between these spaces easier.

“Infrakit makes that connection easier. There are some basic data that belong together in all the workspaces, so I get a simple overview of them. If there is information that must be sent to the intervention road, then it is practical to retrieve files and transfer them to the space that we share with the contractor. “

Real-time data for everyone involved

Infrakit collects real-time data from the worksite to provide all parties with up-to-date information on how the site is progressing. This information is available on different devices from computers to smart phones.

” While planning the pilot project, we wanted to take advantage of Finnish experiences and know-how – that’s why we chose Infrakit platform. The biggest advantage of Infrakit evolves in construction process, where you can take the whole project documentation everywhere with smartphone or tablet. It is also possible to get access in every PC without owning any specific CAD or design software. And finally, we have an option to check the design solution in 3D.”

Anti Palmi, Manager of Road Construction and Maintenance Division in Estonian Road Administration, explains in pilot project T22 Torma-Levala overlay

Infrakit helps to improve quality control for infra owners

Infrakit helps to improve quality control for infra owners

In our previous blog we talked about streamlining infra owner’s project management. To help answer the rising demand for digitalization and sustainability in the infrastructure sector, Infrakit provides a cloud platform to help you manage your projects efficiently.

In this blog we’ll discuss quality control improvements in infra projects.

Built correctly from the start with automatic quality documentation

Infrakit ensures that all project parties can work efficiently without wasting resources with the bonus of documentation being completed simultaneously.

Because of our continuous documentation for progress, quality control and handover materials, you can easily stay on top of what’s being done at the worksite and make sure everyone works with the correct information from the start. This helps avoid unnecessary reworks which saves time and costs.

Project Manager Kadi Tuum from the Estonian Transport Administration said “We had problems with the quality of the lower asphalt surface. I asked the site engineer to register all the places in Infrakit with a picture, where the lower asphalt pavement had defects. After a few years when the top asphalt might have defects, it’s easy for me to inspect the site using Infrakit Field app to disassemble the situation that was at this particular location.”

“All plans and real-time quality assignments are handled through Infrakit. This is important for the owner of the project, who wants quality recognition to take place immediately during the work and not with the traditional way of delay. Without Infrakit, quality designation would not only be delayed, but it would also require more work: quality reports and their storage in a project bank. Now there is no need for it, but all quality measurements and as-built measurements are displayed in real time when the points are taken.”

Sami Laakso, Project Manager, Kreate on case Klaukkala Bypass

Overall quality improvement

With the platform construction’s overall quality is improved by real-time monitoring. Real-time view of the project enables you to fix errors and make quick changes, when necessary. This saves time and helps you stay within the schedule.

“From my point of view as the Quality Manager, Infrakit makes monitoring the project in the field so much easier. There is no need to travel 35 kilometres for every little thing when I can just check it from my PC screen at the office. I am not tied to a time or place. It has been a big relief — I can see in real-time how the project is progressing”.

Jussi Laamanen, Quality Manager YIT on case E18 Hamina – Vaalimaa

Tampere Tramway is being completed ahead of schedule with savings up to 30 million euros

Tampere Tramway is being completed ahead of schedule with savings up to 30 million euros

This is a rare sight in bigger construction projects, but it has happened in Tampere. The first phase of the project will be completed ahead of schedule this summer with savings of approximately 30 million euros.

Traffic in the Hatanpää area will start in August earlier than planned. Originally this part of the project was supposed to be completed by the end of this year.

According to Sari Valjus, the project manager of the Tramway Alliance on their press release (in finnish) they will stay about 30 million euros under the target budget. (YLE 16.4.2021.)

Check out the original article in finnish here.

Infrakit was used in the project as a handover tool, meaning that all the handover material of the project is compiled on the platform and delivered to the client. As the material is transferred, they go through the sites to be handed over, related documents etc. in Infrakit with the client. Infrakit is also the tool for Development phase 2, which means that initial data for planning, alternatives for track lines etc. are collected there and can be viewed on a mobile phone during field visits.

Infrakit Is Growing – New Location for Our Headquarters at Accountor Tower Keilaniemi

Infrakit Is Growing – New Location for Our Headquarters at Accountor Tower Keilaniemi

As the winter is slowly coming to an end and the spring sun is shining through the unwashed windows, it is a new chapter for Infrakit HQ in Finland. At the beginning of this month, we moved to our brand new top floor office at Keilaniemi Espoo, Accountor Tower.

The building has 21 floors and is located near the border of Helsinki. The building was the tallest habitable building in Finland from its construction in 1976 until 2006, remaining still the highest office building to this day. The building has been the Fortum Head Office and Neste Tower in the past. From May 2018 it has been the headquarters of the Nordic financial software company Accountor. Infrakit headquarters is located at the top floor of the whole building, which was completely renovated for us.

Currently we are living with the covid-19 pandemic and all the remote work, but once the situation gets better, we are more than happy to invite our customers for a visit!
Although some say that remote work will be the new normal even in the future, I believe that meeting face-to-face – when possible – is better in forming connections and trust and for building that specific Infrakit spirit that we have in our company.

As we operate in nine different countries already it is an everyday normal with remote work, Teams-meetings etc. – with or without covid-19 – but I am also eager to invite our dear colleagues from around the world for a visit when the time comes. In the new office we also have some room to grow our Infrakit team.

Let’s stay positive about the future and hope to see our lovely customers and old and new employees live when possible!
